Questions

Questions about generator service

If yours is not here, text us. We write back in office hours.

What does a service visit cover?

We inspect the unit, change the oil and filter, test the battery, check the transfer switch, run the generator and leave you a written report with photos. Load-test plans add a test with the house running on the generator.

How long does a visit take, and do I need to be home?

Plan on one to two hours, a little longer with a load test. During the load test the house is on generator power and the lights flicker once when we switch. Someone 18 or older should be home to let us in.

What is a load test, and why bother?

We switch your house over to the generator and let it carry the real load for a while. A generator can start fine with nothing running and still struggle once the house is on it. The test shows you that before an outage does.

Is a plan the same as insurance or a warranty?

No. A plan pays for scheduled visits. It does not pay for parts or repairs, and it is not a warranty. If something needs fixing, we quote it and you decide.

What if my generator will not start during an outage?

Call or text us. We answer in our office hours only, and Priority plan calls go first on the repair list. We cannot promise an arrival time. If there is smoke or fire, call 911. For an outage itself, call your utility.

Do you install new generators?

No. We service the standby generators already on your property and the electrical side of them. For a new installation, ask the dealer or installer you are working with.

Do you work on gas lines?

No. Gas piping is a plumber's work. If we see a gas problem, we tell you right away and you call a licensed plumber or your gas company.

Do you service my brand of generator?

We service most home standby generators. Text us a photo of the data plate, the metal label on the unit, and we tell you before you book.

Are you licensed and insured, and how do I check?

Yes to both. Our Texas electrical contractor license number is in the footer of every page, and the state's license search shows its status. A certificate of insurance is yours on request.

How do I cancel a plan?

Text or call us before the renewal day and we will not renew it. We send you a reminder before every renewal, so you never have to remember the date.

Does a service visit need a permit?

A service visit does not. If a repair does, the quote says so and says who pulls it.

Do you speak Spanish?

Christian, Blanca and Brayan do, on the phone and at your door. Ask for them by name. The rest of the crew speaks English.

Still have a question?

Call or text, and Blanca or Christian will answer.
